Miriam Quesada is an entrepreneur from Pérez Zeledón, known for her work in the cooperative and solidarity economy sectors. She is also involved in the communications field.
Her engagement with communities in the Brunca Region through cooperativism revealed her ability to provide business proposal development services for many unemployed individuals in the area, as well as the opportunity to create training spaces for aspiring entrepreneurs.
Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to participate in the Empretec workshop and later to submit her business ideas to the Fondo Impacto Empretec program, where she was selected to receive seed capital resources from the Development Banking System. Let’s learn more about her story:
What is your connection with entrepreneurship?
I have always been close to entrepreneurs through my work with Periódico Enlace. I also participate in fairs and am invited to various workshops where I speak about the value of entrepreneurship and topics related to small and medium-sized enterprises.
Additionally, I collaborate with the Municipality of Pérez Zeledón to offer workshops in my district. My training in cooperative principles has taught me that teamwork is extremely valuable.
What motivated you to apply for Fondo Impacto Empretec?
I am concerned that seed capital funds, Development Banking loans, and IMAS funds don’t always reach the people who could truly benefit from them.
I was motivated to participate in CELIEM’s Fondo Impacto because I believe that with greater knowledge and tools, I can conduct research to identify more financing opportunities and help entrepreneurs apply for funds to support projects that will foster their growth.
